Callies Compstar, & Magnum Crankshafts
Custom Engineered Balanced Rotating Assemblie
Custom Engineered Balanced Rotating Assemblies,
WPE can build a rotating assembly including Pistons, Rings, Bearings, Connecting Rods & Crankshaft.
Just about any brand of components you choose with any crank configuration you want is available.
WPE will internal balance your rotating assembly to less than a gram on both ends of the crank.
WPE has been a player in the performance industry since 1990. In those years we have scored hundreds of feature wins and dozens of track championships. Our quality is second to none and will never be compromised.
WPE has exceptional deals with Callies, Compstar, Dyer Top Rods, Howards HRC, Scatt, JE, SRP, Mahle, Total Seal, ACL, Clevite, and many others.. Let us quote you a price using guaranteed top quality components at the best price available.
If all you want is the individual components, like a crank or set of rods, that is fine too,, Just drop me a e-mail and let e know what you are looking for and I will be glad to quote you the best price I can.
Callies Compstar Performance Crankshafts
Compstar performance crankshafts are designed by Callies engineers, rough machined to our specification on 4340 material forgings, then finished in the Callies facility. Callies in house solid modeling abilities provide a great advantage in product development. At Callies we are able to see and test our ideas against established situations. We can also precisely locate material where it will yield the greatest advantage.
Beginning with properly placed counterweights that not only improve balance but reduce bearing loads, every aspect of these highly stressed components has been analyzed. Our forgings are rough machined in a process that includes double stress relief operations that make these crankshafts dimensionally stable.
Hardened with a deep nitride, Compstar cranks are ideal for abusive dirt track environments. All rod journals are drilled and counterweights are profiled for piston clearance. With our consistent grind and polish, along with our precise stroke and index, you will see why we say these crankshafts are Compstar Correct
Compstar crankshafts are available in a variety of Small Block Chevy and Big Block Chevy configurations in either 1 piece or 2 piece rear seal design. Gen III and IV LS Series cranks will be available in January.

Comet Lightweight Small Block Chevy Cranks
Compstar Comets are forged from hi-grade 4340 steel, Compstar can say this and actually back it up. Comets are produced on proprietary forging dies designed at Callies by the same experts that have for years produced the fine Callies Performance crankshafts. Your Comet can be ordered in a variety of strokes from 3.480 to 3.750. A selection of rod journals 2.100, 2.000 and 1.888 make the Comet a natural choice for a wide range of applications. Having properly placed counterweights, Compstar Comets will internally balance without the use of heavy metal
Each Comet is fully nitrided with a surface hardness of 61HRc or greater. All gray area edges are generously radiused to eliminate potential stress risers found on many light weight cranks. All journals are precision ground with .125 Radii for strength and polished to a 3 Ra or finer. The result of this work are journals that have excellent load baring surfaces and high fatigue limits. With a weight of less than 43 lbs. (Guaranteed ) the Comet will be hard to beat in terms of performance and durability.
Compstar Connecting Rods
Designed and Produced with Engineering and Finishing advancements, CompStar high performance connecting rods have what it takes to make your engine build trouble free and your finished product reliable. Every detail of this highly stressed component has been carefully analyzed to maximize repeatability and dependability.
Based on feedback from a variety of highly regarded professional engine builders, Compstar engineers set out to address the most common issues associated with many aftermarket connecting rods.
Big End Bore Sizing
Out of round, and repeatability are certainly a major concern for all engine builders. Many connecting rods are dimensionally well within industry standards out of the box, but after disassembly and re-assembly become out of round. Compstar rods maintain dimensional repeatability through use of a lengthy stress relief process, and multiple re-torque processing. The combination of the release of residual machining stresses and burnishing of threads and bolt spotfaces ensure that big end bores stay round regardless of how many times your rods are disassembled and re-assembled.
Preparation Time
Properly detailing connecting rods in preparation for use is a time consuming task. Compstar connecting rods have the most common prep work already done. Pin bushings are chamfered and honed for proper high performance oil clearance. Parting line edges are generously chamfered to resist scraping during insertion of the bearing shells. The bearing locating tab slots are de-burred to ensure the bearing tab is fully seated for trouble free installation.
No Costly Upgrades
Compstar rods were designed with higher horsepower stroker motors in mind from the start, not as an afterthought. Bolt upgrades and stroker clearance are normally additional cost options with other rods, but are standard equipment with Compstar rods.
ARP 2000 bolts are used exclusively for superior tensile strength and clamping force at the critical mating joint of the rod and cap. The placement of these bolts is also key to additional rotational clearance in stroker applications at the bottom of the bores and at the pan rails.
Strengthening gussets are also added to the bolt spotface area of the cap where cross sectional thickness is at a minimum. These gussets not only increase strength, but aid in dimensional stability as well.
Contouring above the bolts increase cam clearance and decrease the amount of clearancing required at the bottom of the bores on the cam side. Compstar rods will clear a .660" lift cam on a .900" base circle with a 4.000" stroke crank without any modification to the rod.
The increasingly popular Forged Side Relief style pistons move the pin bosses inward, normally requiring narrowing of the pin end of the connecting rod. Compstar rods are designed and manufactured with a .960" pin end width, and will work with all currently available FSR style pistons without modification.
Reduced Weight
The Compstar engineering staff has worked very hard at reducing weight without sacrificing strength and durability. 3D solid modeling software has enabled us to refine our design while monitoring predicted weight, resulting in a very high strength to weight ratio.
